As a result, income per available bed increased to CHF 11,370 (prior year CHF 11,208). Annual sales in the reporting year amounted to CHF 62.1 million (prior year CHF 60.7 million). These results underline the continuous optimisation of operational efficiency and the sustained appeal of the offering.

Market cultivation

We subscribe to the principle that performance is the best form of advertising. Nevertheless, we strive to pursue an active form of market cultivation that is not blatant, but has its own style and soul. The information we provide should always be honest, realistic and clear.

Marketing continued to focus on digital market cultivation.

In December 2025, in addition to youthhostel.ch, another website was launched with yoummi.ch, which bundles the gastronomic offerings of the Swiss Youth Hostels, focusing on the public restaurants under an independent umbrella brand for the first time. The new image strengthens the positioning of gastronomy as an integral part of the overall experience and increases the visibility of the offering for external guests as well. The development of website visits must be considered within the context of the introduction of a cookie consent tool. Due to the increasing rejection of tracking technologies, a significant proportion of visits are not recorded, which leads to a corresponding unterestimation of the actual number of visits. The reported access figures can therefore only be compared with prior years to a limited extent and do not fully reflect actual use of the website. The reach and relevance of the website remain at a solid level overall.

In addition to the website, the Overnight Blog continues to provide inspiration as well as information on the latest developments and contributes a variety of ideas on staying in Swiss youth hostels.

25,428 Facebook followers (no change compared to the prior year) are among the regular recipients of our activities. On Instagram, the number of followers grew by 36% year on year to 8,919. The number of followers on LinkedIn increased from 1,713 in the prior year to 2,029. YouTube continues to gain in importance as a key communication channel in tourism and is increasingly seen as a “window to the world”. Thanks to the increased production of our own videos, we achieved 781,409 views, an increase of 178% over the prior year and significantly increased our digital reach.

Media relations

Active media work and maintaining contact with journalists is a key concern. The public is regularly informed on exciting innovations and developments in the organisation. The focus was on the reopening of Martigny Youth Hostel, the topping-out ceremony of the new Geneva Youth Hostel and the new partner youth hostel in Val-de-Travers. In a three-part report for the “+41” format, CH-Media has portrayed the hostel managers Andrea Adamer (Mariastein Youth Hostel) and Chantal Anthamatten (wellnessHostel4000 Saas-Fee) as well as a family holidaying at Saanen-Gstaad Youth Hostel. Switzerland has also recently shown a live broadcast from Interlaken Youth Hostel. In addition, major media outlets such as 20minuten, watson, nau.ch and Switzerland reported on the offer at the weekend. Various individual travellers and group trips at home and abroad also ensured comprehensive reporting in the relevant media, such as in “Brigitte”.
