Value-for-money services at a high level of quality
Our primary aim is the maintenance of value-for-money services. Nevertheless, we want to meet rising quality requirements. We wish to offer a demand-conscious, innovative programme of services for our guests that is attractive and offers genuine alternatives when compared to other forms of accommodation – in other words, to cultivate simplicity. We place particular focus on transparent structures, personal management of our hostels, and a pleasant atmosphere.
Brienz Youth Hostel

In 2022, the network of the Swiss Youth Hostels consisted of 51 hostels with a total of 6,139 beds. The Swiss Youth Hostels Association operated 45 own hostels, totalling 5,571 beds; 6 youth hostels with a total of 568 beds belonged to the network as franchisees.

Lucerne Youth Hostel
The youth hostel underwent a partial renovation and opened with a new look after a three-month break. The public areas were the focus of the redesign. Various graphic elements indicate the upcoming move to the Swiss Museum of Transport.
Saignelégier Youth Hostel
Saignelégier Youth Hostel (franchise operation) opened its doors in April as part of the Jura Sport & Spa Resort. Saignelégier is the ideal location for sports enthusiasts. The wild high plateau with its large meadows and pine woods also offers plenty of space for outdoor activities.
Brienz Youth Hostel
The winter break 2021/22 was used to carry out renovation work. Guest flow could thus be optimised and the lobby area, the restaurant and the recreation room were given a new face.
St-Luc WellnessHostel
After Saas-Fee and Laax, the youth hostel in the Valaisian Val d’Anniviers is already the third WellnessHostel in the network. Within the walls of the former Grand Hôtel du Cervin, the historic tradition of the hotel, which has been in operation since 1893, is combined with the modern, straightforward flair of the Swiss Youth Hostels. The St-Luc WellnessHostel is being run as a franchise operation.
Sion Youth Hostel
Sion Youth Hostel was closed at the end of November 2022 after 32 years. The property will have to make way for a new site development in the area of the station.
Engelberg Youth Hostel
A new era is beginning for Engelberg Youth Hostel. The business is no longer run in a franchise agreement, but managed by the Swiss Youth Hostels Association directly instead. The hostel of the Berghaus Engelberg Cooperative, opened in 1928, has been run by the managers Petra and Fredy Liem for the past 18 years. With the takeover, the popular accommodation will be preserved both for the region and for travellers from all over the world.
Scudellate Youth Hostel
In the picturesque village of Scudellate, located in the upper valley of Muggio in the Canton of Ticino, the network is being extended by a franchise business. The youth hostel in Scudellate opened its doors at the beginning of March. The youth hostel, which is integrated into nature, boasts four six-bed rooms and is the ideal travel destination for peace-seeking single travellers, families, schools and groups.
Franchise hostels
Bellinzona, Lugano, Romanshorn, Saignelégier, St-Luc, Trin and Scudellate (since 1 March 2023) Youth Hostels manage the youth hostels on their own account and at their own risk according to the Swiss Youth Hostels’ principles. As they satisfy the service and quality principles, they are allowed to use the word and figurative marks of the Swiss Youth Hostels. The mutual rights and obligations are laid down in a franchise agreement.
