In the months of January to April 2021, the Swiss Youth Hostels achieved 44% fewer overnight stays than in the same period in 2019. Although winter operations in the ski areas were ensured, school and group trips were still not permitted due to the COVID-19 measures in force and the restaurants and wellness facilities remained closed for external guests. International guests remained absent and it is still difficult to estimate when further steps in the easing of restrictions can be expected. Due to the progressive number of vaccinations and the current decline in cases, the situation is expected to normalise in the summer. We are confident that the easing of restrictions will come gradually and that the freedom to travel will continuously improve.

The Schaan-Vaduz Youth Hostel was reopened on 1 April 2021 after a construction period of just under one-and-a-half years. The youth hostel was constructed according to the highest sustainability standards and corresponds to modern guest requirements. It exhibits an aesthetic and natural interior design and sets a new highlight for the two municipalities of Schaan and Vaduz.

The Rapperswil-Jona Youth Hostel was opened again with a modern look on 30 April 2021 after a six-month renovation phase. The rooms and public areas have undergone rejuvenation. The youth hostel offers attractively priced accommodation directly by Lake Zurich, equally ideal for families and couples as well as sports groups.

The attractive new catering offering in both youth hostels, with attractive menus, 24-hour self-service kiosk, snacks, drinks and coffee/tea ensure that our guests feel well looked after and cared for, around the clock.

Our members and guests can continue to look forward to the new offers, services and products that we will be presenting later this year. We will therefore continue to work on our catering offering, which will meet the increasing demand for healthy and climate-friendly nutrition. Cross-border offers are emerging in cooperation with our colleagues in Germany and Austria. We are continuing to develop our app and are digitalising the guest processes, so that our youth hostels can also provide a positive digital experience. Last but not least, we look forward to progressively dismantling the protection concepts and easing the restrictions, so that each youth hostel can once again be a real meeting place.

See you soon in one of our youth hostels!
