Die Buchungszahlen sind vielversprechend und die Logiern\u00e4chte lagen in den Monaten Januar bis M\u00e4rz 2023 um 30.4% \u00fcber dem Vorjahr. Das Vorjahr war anfangs aufgrund der Pandemie noch stark durch die Einschr\u00e4nkungen der Reisefreiheit gepr\u00e4gt.<\/p><p>\u00dcberschattet wurde der Jahresanfang von der Mitteilung, dass unser ehemaliger CEO Fredi Gm\u00fcr nach l\u00e4ngerer Krankheit verstorben ist. Fredi Gm\u00fcr hat bis Ende 2018 w\u00e4hrend 23 Jahren einen grossen Fussabdruck in unserer Organisation und viele bleibende Erinnerungen bei all jenen hinterlassen, die in dieser Zeit mit ihm zusammenarbeiten durften.<\/p><p>Ab dem 1. M\u00e4rz 2023 wurde das Netzwerk der Schweizer Jugendherbergen durch einen weiteren Franchisebetrieb erweitert. Im malerischen Dorf Scudellate, im oberen Tal von Muggio im Kanton Tessin, befindet sich das renovierte Ostello Scudellate. Neben den insgesamt 24 Betten in vier Sechserzimmern stehen Individualreisenden, Familien, Gruppen und Schulklassen als preiswerte \u00dcbernachtungsm\u00f6glichkeiten auch vier Doppelzimmer mit eigenem Bad in der wenige Meter entfernten Osteria Manciana zur Verf\u00fcgung.<\/p><p>Im Fr\u00fchjahr 2023 wird die Jugendherberge Montreux wiederer\u00f6ffnet, nachdem w\u00e4hrend der Winterschliessung insbesondere der ganze Restaurationsbereich und die Zimmer vollst\u00e4ndig renoviert wurden. Nach pandemiebedingten Verlangsamungen werden die wichtigen Projekte Genf, Luzern und Pontresina durch die Schweizerische Stiftung f\u00fcr Sozialtourismus weiter vorangetrieben. Zudem erfolgt im Fr\u00fchjahr 2023 der Baubeginn der Jugendherberge Martigny. Die Gemeinde Martigny m\u00f6chte im historischen \u00abB\u00e2timent de l\u2019Horloge\u00bb eine Jugendherberge mit rund 50 Betten errichten und den Schweizer Jugendherbergen zum Betrieb vermieten. Die Er\u00f6ffnung ist auf Sommer 2024 geplant.<\/p><p>Die Schweizer Jugendherbergen und die Schweizerische Stiftung f\u00fcr Sozialtourismus haben bereits viel zusammen bewirkt! Und nun d\u00fcrfen wir zusammen Geburtstage feiern! Die Schweizerische Stiftung f\u00fcr Sozialtourismus feiert am 11. Mai 2023 das 50-Jahr-Jubil\u00e4um und die Schweizer Jugendherbergen am 28. Jahrhunderts ein Privileg von wenigen, meist beg\u00fcterten Menschen. Daneben wanderten Handwerksgesellinnen und Handwerksgesellen und zu Studienzwecken Lehrpersonen mit ihren Sch\u00fclerinnen und Sch\u00fclern und Studierenden. Die Industrialisierung ver\u00e4nderte das Lebensumfeld der Menschen nachhaltig. Besonders die Jugend litt zunehmend unter den schlechten Wohn- und Arbeitsbedingungen im industriellen Umfeld. Um den beengten und wenig befriedigenden Lebensumst\u00e4nden zu entfliehen, begannen anfangs des 20. Jahrhunderts immer mehr Jugendliche in ihrer knappen Freizeit zu wandern und zu reisen. Einerseits wollten sie die Natur als Gegensatz zum Stadtleben erfahren, andererseits war das Wandern ein Ausdruck einer selbstdefinierten und jugendgem\u00e4ssen Lebensgestaltung.<\/p><p>Mit der Gr\u00fcndung der Genossenschaft f\u00fcr Jugendherbergen Z\u00fcrich am 28. April 1924 hat die Reise unserer Organisation begonnen. Bereits im Herbst 1932 war die Schweiz Gr\u00fcndungsmitglied von Hostelling International, dem internationalen Netzwerk von Jugendherbergen, und spielte damit eine wichtige Rolle im Kulturaustausch, in der Friedensf\u00f6rderung und im Engagement f\u00fcr Bildung durch Reisen. Hostelling International hat heute 62 Mitgliederorganisationen und umfasst ein Netzwerk von \u00fcber 3&#8217;000 Hostels weltweit.<\/p><p>Damals wie heute setzen sich die Schweizer Jugendherbergen aktiv f\u00fcr eine solidarische, verantwortungsbewusste und lebensfrohe Gesellschaft ein. Einzelreisende \u2013 junge Menschen, Familien, Schulen, Gruppen und Menschen mit Behinderung stehen im Zentrum unseres Engagements. Wir erm\u00f6glichen insbesondere Menschen mit kleinem Budget den Zugang zu erschwinglichen \u00dcbernachtungs- und Verpflegungsm\u00f6glichkeiten in der Schweiz und zusammen mit den Mitgliederorganisationen von Hostelling International weltweit.<\/p><p>Wir freuen uns, auch im Jahr 2023 m\u00f6glichst vielen Menschen nachhaltige Reiseerlebnisse und bereichernde Begegnungen an den sch\u00f6nsten Pl\u00e4tzen der Schweiz zu bieten.
